How to use it
- 1Add your PNG files.
- 2Lower the colour-reduction slider for a smaller file.
- 3Compare and download.
How PNG compression works here
PNG is lossless, so the biggest savings come from reducing the number of distinct colours (quantization). Flat graphics often look identical with 64–256 colours. At 100 the image is re-saved losslessly, which may not shrink an already-optimized PNG.
Photos saved as PNG
Photographs saved as PNG are usually huge. Converting them to WebP or JPG will save far more than palette reduction.
Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded?
No. This tool decodes and re-encodes your images inside your browser tab using built-in browser features. The files never leave your device unless you choose to share the downloaded results.
Is transparency preserved?
Yes. PNG output keeps the alpha channel, including partial transparency.
