Browser requirements

Creating AVIF files requires a browser with a built-in AVIF encoder — currently mainly Chromium-based browsers. If yours doesn't support it, the AVIF option is disabled and you can use WebP instead.

No. This tool decodes and re-encodes your images inside your browser tab using built-in browser features. The files never leave your device unless you choose to share the downloaded results.

Can I convert AVIF back to JPG or PNG?

Yes — drop AVIF files into the Image Converter and pick JPG, PNG or WebP. Decoding AVIF is supported by all current major browsers.
